Gado Gado Engs Corner (Pluit)

i always love this meal from Engs Corner. This is quite healthy, because there are vegetables and no meat. But the sauce is not really that healthy, as the base is peanut sauce with oil. hehehe.. But never mind, i eat this once in a while, not kind of every day meal. Usually i order without "Lontong", but i forget to tell the Mbak-Mbak in Engs Corner.

The sauce is very tasty, with the crackers, add a crunchy and nice combination. There are tofu, lettuce, potato, cucumber, hard boiled egg, green beans and cabbage. The other type of meal, that i love is Asinan Buah (i cant finish one portion by myself), Kerupuk Mie with the sauce. I love Indonesian food so much and i am proud of it. Because Indonesian food are so much rich in flavour and many countries are get their spices or herb from Indonesia. What a wonderful archipelago with a lot of great resources of natural ingredients!!!

New Hair Cut ( Redo Salon ) & Dinner at Bubur Mangga Besar

It's been 3 months since my last hair cut, i need one soon. That's what i had on my mind a few days ago. Plus a bad hair, that happen after i swam on last Sunday. The bad "Kaporit" damage my hair, it get sticky, stiff, and very oily. I washed it 5 times, and still my hair very sticky. The next day (Monday), i wash my hair with Shampoo (only one time), it feels better, but once it dry, the inner part is still sticky and oily. So i decided to go Saloon and get a hair cut. I ask the guy who wash my hair, to cleanse my hair three time and use conditioner. The funny part is he even scratch my scalp with his nail, and it quite hurt. But thanks to the guy, my hair now is recover and back to normal. Bye Sticky and Oily Hair. Thanks God!

After i had my hair cut, me and my Mom had a dinner at Bubur Mangga Besar, we didn't order the whole chicken steamed, because we afraid can't finish it. So we just order a bowl of warm porridge that come together with a "Cakwe" (fried dough). At first i was plan to but half portion, then the man told me, the small and the large is only different Idr 2.000, so i change into one portion instead and add a braised tofu (my favorite). Mine is just plain porridge, while my Mom is with chicken. After i ate and almost finish half portion, i feel so full. Maybe next time i just order half portion, even the price is only cheaper a little. Don't get greedy, or afraid if i wont feel full.

Rengginang ( Sticky Rice Crackers )

Rengginang

Rengginang

I bought it from Snack Store, Aneka Citra Snack ( ACS ) at Emporium Mall Pluit, In front of Carrefour. It cost idd 14.000 for 100 gram. There are two option, one is with pink colour and the other is white. Pink is cheaper 2k, so i choose white one because the pink colour looks quite scary (i don't know what colouring is used, is it safe for my health, well i doubt). Actually i buy it, because the other day i tried it at my friend house, it taste not bad at all, so i decided to buy it. I search the recipe from google, and the ingredients are very berry simple. You only need four ingredients, Glutinous Rice, Salt, Sugar and Water, but the process take many step and times.  Here's the recipe below with two language, Indonesian and English Version.

Indonesian Version

Bahan :
  • 250 gram beras ketan, cuci bersih lalu rendam dalam air selama 1 jam
  • 1 sdt garam
  • 1 sdt gula pasir
  • 100 ml  air
Haluskan :
  • 2 siung bawang putih
  • 1 sdt terasi bakar
CARA MEMBUAT  :
  1. Kukus beras ketan, minimal selama 15 menit. Sisihkan.
  2. Campur bumbu halus, garam, gula pasir, dan air. Aduk rata. Rebus sampai mendidih. Tambahkan beras ketan. Aduk sampai meresap.
  3. Kukus minimal selama 30 menit atau hingga matang.

English Version

Ingredients A:
250 gr Glutinous Rice (wash thoroughly and soak in water for 1 hour or overnight)
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
100 ml Water

Ingredients B:
2 cloves of Garlic
1 tsp of Terasi (Shrimp Stocks Cubes)

How to Make:
1. Steam the Glutinous Rice for 15 minutes. Set aside.
2. Mix the ingredients B (garlic and terasi) with Salt, Sugar and Water until well combined.
Cook in boiling water. Add Glutinous Rice, and stir until the mixed sauces is absorbed.
3. Steam for about 30 minutes or more until it cooked.
4. Take out from the steamer and shape into round or any shape that you prefer. Put under the hot sunshine, to make it dry naturally (it same like Sun Dried Tomatoes, but this is more dry, takes about 2 days)
5. Once the one side is dry, flip and wait until completely dry.
6. If both are done (completely dry), fry in the pan with hot cooking oil (medium heat) until crispy (cooked, be careful not to be burnt)
